About Us
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur, established in 1960, is one of India’s premier technical institutions. Since April 1, 2003, it has been governed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (now the Ministry of Education), Government of India. On August 15, 2007, NIT Jamshedpur was declared an Institute of National Importance under the National Institutes of Technology Act.
The institute offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across 12 departments covering engineering, sciences, and humanities. With a dedicated faculty of around 220 members, a student body of approximately 4,000, and 150 administrative and support staff, the campus fosters a robust academic and research environment.
Spread across 341.3 acres of picturesque, hilly terrain on the outskirts of the industrial city of Jamshedpur, the campus provides a unique blend of serene natural beauty and access to urban industrial resources.
