About Us

The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India set up The RGIPT at Jais, Uttar Pradesh through an Act of Parliament. RGIPT has been accorded the eminence of being an “ Institute of National Importance” along the lines of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). The Institute is empowered to award degrees in its own right. The Institute is empowered to award degrees in its own right. RGIPT is co-promoted as an energy domain specific institute by six leading Oil Public Sector Units in association with the OIDB. The prime objective of the Institute is to provide world class education, training, and research to roll out efficient human resources to meet the growing requirements of the Petroleum & Energy sector. The aspiration is to develop India as a global manpower hub for the entire Petroleum and Energy Sector.

Research Capability and Focus Area

The focus areas of the Institute are Petroleum, natural gas and energy, especially, renewable energy resources, fuel cells, batteries, solar cells, gas storage and purification, catalysis, biomass conversion, nanomaterials, sustainable materials, enhanced oil recovery, recyclable plastics, hydrogels, covalent organic frameworks, petroleum exploration etc

Notable Research / Publication

The faculty members regularly publish in various journals of Elsevier, American Chemical society, Royal Society of Chemistry, Wiley Inter-science, American Physical Society,Taylor & Francis etc. The number of publication in last three years stands at 127. The total regular faculty strength is 30.
