Established in 1958,the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB),is recognized worldwide as a leader in the field of engineering education and research. In 1961 Parliament of India decreed the IITs as ‘Institutes of National Importance'. Since then, IITB has grown from strength to strength to emerge as one of the top technical universities in the world. Members of the faculty of the institute have won many prestigious awards and recognitions, including the Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar and Padma awards. IIT Bombay has secured first position in India and 177th rank this year in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings (2022).
