Campus Details

Campus Area : M. S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology is a self-financing institution established in Bangalore in the year 1962 by the industrialist and philanthropist, Late Dr. M S Ramaiah. It was started with two engineering branches and has evolved by leaps and bounds into a major technical education centre in the country. Currently, 13 UG and 15 PG programmes are offered to students, which are affiliated with Visveswaraya Technological University (VTU). MSRIT located in the centre of the City having 16 acres of Campus. M S Ramaiah Medical College is located adjacent to MSRIT. Spacious Academic infrastructure and state of art facilities for sports is established on the campus.
IT Infrastructure : M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology has been at forefront in adopting technologies for the benefit of students. Currently there are more than 3500 computers in the campus catering to learning and research requirements of the students. Servers of varying capabilities are installed to deliver specific computing services in the campus. Adequate number of networked printers, copiers and available to students and staff members. Classrooms are digitally equipped with interactive boards. Institute has subscribed to proprietary and Open Source software according to the curriculum requirements. The institute has also subscribed to cloud-based software solutions that are accessible to students even while they are not in campus. Specialised software solutions manage the student admission, online fee payment, conduction of exams, and announcing of results. Lecture capture solutions and video conferencing software are used to conduct online classes. The website of the institute is managed by the in-house team. The institute has an active online presence in Youtube, Facebook and LinkedIn. Official email services are hosted in Gmail thereby ensuring highest quality of security. Centralised data backup and disaster recovery protocols are established. The entire campus is connected with Giga speed fibre network. Multiple Internet service providers ensure continuous bandwidth of more than 1.5Gbps. Wi-Fi services are provided in campus and in hostels. For the purpose of security, more than 250 cameras are installed and regularly monitored. The college has installed a video streaming server to host lecture videos. The campus network is secured by a firewall and other digital security protocols. Even during the pandemic, the institute has ensured that the online classes are continued, learning resources are available to students, and has also conducted online exams successfully. Ramaiah Institute of Technology ensures that IT resources are put to best use so that teachers and students are benefited by the use of technology.

Academic Facilities : The physical infrastructure includes 125 class/tutorial rooms of around 10,000 sq.m., spacious laboratories of around 15,000 sq.m., and spacious and air-conditioned libraries (six units) with more than 3750 sq.m. Further, Sports and Gym Facilities and adequate hostel facilities are available in the campus. The library has more than 1,17,802 volumes, 38,512 titles of books, subscriptions for e-journals from reputed publishers are available. Digital library is available with more than 120 computers, reading rooms and other facilities. Institute has 5 seminar halls, 4 board rooms and 1 auditorium with all necessary facilities. Institute has language lab for improving communication skills. All faculty members are facilitated with a laptop/desktop with 1000 MBps Internet facility. Video lecture capturing facility is available, which has enabled to create a repository of lectures for 200 courses. Solar rooftop plant of 431kW capacity has been established over 5 buildings catering to one-third of the Institute’s everyday energy demand. Campus-wide networking Wi-Fi and CCTV facility is available in the institute and Hostel. Institute has a separate maintenance department with electrical and civil engineers. The hi-tech hospital is within the campus; the Institute has a doctor who visits on regular basis. Transportation facilities are provided for students and staff. Post Office, Bank and ATM facilities are also available in the Institute premises. Other facilities include clean drinking water with RO system and canteen facilities.
Library Database : MSRIT library has state of art facilities with modern collection knowledge resources and innovative information services fills an essential role for students, faculty and the surrounding community in their intellectual pursuits. It is a centralized Air Conditioned fully automated library predominantly related to Engineering, Technology, Management and allied subjects. The collection comprises of 123664 volumes of Books with 39584 Titles and 85 National printed Magazines. The Library subscribes to about 1839 full text E-journals from,IEL Online (IEEE Journals, Standards and Conf. Proceedings), Taylor & Francis, Elesvier Science Direct, Springer Nature, Emerald (Management), Knimbus E- Library(5700 open access E-Journals) & 1700 Conference proceedings covers back files from 2010 onwards. The E-Books Subscription package includes around 23956 from Taylor & Francis-CRC Netbase & Springer Link & McGrawhill Education, Packt, Elesvier Science Direct, New Age International. In addition, there are 3720 Bound volumes of journals, 4404 CD’s &DVD’s, 75 Video Cassettes & 1421 IS Standards. All the operations of the Library are automated using Libsys 10 software. Library provides a Plagiarism Checking Tool “Turnitin” used to Check Plagiarism Originality Online and “NetAnalytiks-Sententia” in support of formal writing assistive tool for students and professionals. And Scopus Abstract & Citation Database for check Citations and Publications. MSRIT Library has been scattered into 6 Locations spread across the campus with carpet area of 40350 Sq ft having state of art infrastructure facilities. The seating capacity of all Libraries is 1265. Library is an extremely important primary support service provided by MSRIT. The library and the associated facilities & services are indispensable in support of Learning, Teaching and Research. This basic necessity has been recognized and the methodology of developing and using the library and library-associated services is established in this Library. The main services are open access to resources, lending of books, reference/referral service, indian standards/patents, web opac, sc/st book bank scheme, msrit book bank scheme, alumni book bank scheme, reprographic facility, user orientation programme, and inter library loan through institutional membership etc. The Library has set up a model Digital Library to browse the net and access e-resources. It is well facilitated with 132 Computers connected to high bandwidth speed of 600 Mbps Leased Line internet. And “MSRIT INSTITUTIONAL REPOSITORY” has been developed using Dspace Software to access faculty publications, Previous year question papers, Lecture notes, Project abstracts etc. Remote access to e-resources has been facilitated by library through the services of M/s. K-NIMBUS. In order to promote e-learning the Library has purchased “Local Guru”, video content management software and hosted around 23000 NPTEL Video Courses on local server are being streamed across the campus 24 x 7 uninterruptedly. To facilitate the library services, 11 committed library professional staff members are striving hard to meet the expectations of the user community. The library also provides One Month Internship Training Program to Post Graduate Library Science students from all over Karnataka State University every year. The library conducts National level Workshops, Conferences, Training Programs, and Book Exhibitions, etc

Research facilities & Labs : MSRIT recognises research, innovation, collaboration and consultancy as the main focus areas. The increase in the number of publications, funded projects, MoUs and conferences are testimony to the Institute’s commitment towards research. All the departments are recognised as research centres with 315 scholars pursuing research. MSRIT is an approved QIP centre by AICTE. The institute has well-defined research and development policy. A core research group has been constituted to monitor and mentor research activities. The project funding has increased to the tune of 10 crores in the last 5 years. The institute H-Index is around 40. Around 80% of the faculty with doctorate degree are recognised, research supervisors. Institute provides seed money to few selected faculties. Faculty are encouraged to publish in reputed (SJR ranking) journals and the incentive for the same is provided based on the ranking of journals which enhanced the publication by 15% per year. Faculty are encouraged to attend reputed conferences and workshops to enhance the research and technical skills. Institute has established the Centre of Excellence in Image Technology, Centre for advanced materials, Centre for Antennas and Radio Frequency Systems (CARFS). Centre for Cyber-Physical Systems has been initiated with the investment of 10 Crores. These centres will cater the full-time research scholars. The stipend of Rs. 10,000 is given to full-time research scholars to improve the research environment. A well-defined policy for consultancy and revenue sharing is in place. Instruments : With a student strength in excess of 6000 and a talent pool drawn from around the country and abroad, M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology has students playing practically every instrument both in classical and western genres. Currently, we have students capable of playing classical instruments such as Veena, violin, harmonium, flute, tabla, mridanga, morsing, etc., while in western music we have students playing a variety of instruments such as drums, kahone, synthesizer, guitars etc.
Music Accomplishments : Students of MSRIT have been at the forefront of music performance not only in the country but also abroad.
